Mardi Gras World at Kern Studios in New Orleans
Mardi Gras World

New Orleans, LA

Mardi Gras World is up and running. They were closed for a short time after Hurricane Katrina, but reopened in mid October for Employees and tourist alike.
Before the storm, Mardi Gras World would see around 3000 or more visitors a day. They now have around 40 visitors a day and growing. On our visit, Blaine Kern came out and introduced himself and expressed his happiness to see the people out and about visiting Mardi Gras World. He invited everyone to enjoy Mardi Gras this year and went off to probably work on one of the masterpieces. It was nice to see this New Orleans legend face to face. He truly is Mr. Mardi Gras. We watched a few films on the history of Mardi Gras World and on the Kern Studios. Mr. Kern has created a truly neat place to visit.
We were able to see some current floats as well as some floats from years past. We were even able to see a few artist at work on their creations. Everyone was very nice and the place felt like a palace of fun.
New Orleans needs this kind of fun to get back to normal. I am glad to say we went to Mardi Gras World this year, because I a more than ready for the parades now.
There is a gift shop at Mardi Gras World filled with neat New Orleans and Mardi Gras items.
Yoda is ready to protect New Orleans from everything but floods.
Jester on a Stick is one of my favorite props.
Puss N Boots is ready to leap into action.
I know this candle from somewhere...
I love the colors in this Dragon Prop in Mardi Gras World.

Just a note I forgot to mention. The price of admission is usually $15.00 per adult. They only charged us $8.00 for adults. I am not sure if this is ongoing, but I enjoyed the lower price.
