New Orleans Boiled Crawfish

Boiled Crawfish are a great delicacy in the New Orleans area. A crawfish boil is usually a great place for friends and families to gather together and celebrate life. Many people boil about 5 lbs of crawfish per person. Although many people may eat more than 5 pounds, it is a good average for a person. In the New Orleans area it is very common to also see onions, garlic, sausage, eggs, chickens, artichokes, corn and many other items boiled with the crawfish.

When having a crawfish boil many people will line a large table with news paper and brown paper bags to keep the juices on the table and allow for easy clean up. A properly prepared table covering can often be rolled up and thrown directly in the trash.
