SCHOOLS IN ST. CHARLES PARISH
In the weeks following Hurricane Katrina ,St. Charles Parish became a staging point for many anxiously waiting for the authorities to lift the roadblocks and curfews. Student enrollment numbers swelled as everyone worked to get displaced children back into school. Suprisingly, even though the number of students rose by an estimated 10 to 25% from pre-Katrina numbers, the schools continued to sparkle, providing education that not only rivals pricey "private" schools but exceeds them in many ways.
With our children in the St. Charles school system, we have been impressed with the education they are receiving. Classroom size, teacher qualification, equipment, facilities, special programs, etc. all work to provide a high class of education that others are paying exorbitant fees for in private schools.
As the home to many large refineries and chemical plants, as well as a substantial residential base, St. Charles Parish schools reap the tax dollar benefits of being stratically located.
