Storer Boon Theatre Awards Presented at Le Chat Noir in New Orleans
STORER BOONE THEATRE AWARDS PRESENTED AT LE CHAT NOIR
The 14th Annual Storer Boone Theatre Awards were presented tonight at le chat noir honoring the best in local theater during the calendar year of 2005.
Nine theatrical organizations in Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Bernard parishes received awards in the 29 competitive categories, led by Rivertown Repertory Theater of Kenner with 6. They were closely followed by Tulane Summer Lyric Theater with 5 and the Shakespeare Festival At Tulane with 4.
Leaders amongst individuals were Lara Grice with 3, and Gary Rucker and Ricky Graham with 2 each. The late Gavin Mahlie received the Best Actor In A Comedy Boonie for The Merchant Of Venice.
Becky Allen was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Shirl Cieutat.
Uncle Wayne Daigrepont paid tribute to the late Storer Boone.
The combined Arthur Tong Unsung Hero/Humanitarian Award was dedicated to the New Orleans Theater Community at large for surviving and persevering in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The co-hosts of the evening were Barbara Motley of le chat noir and Charlie Farve Hayes of Drama! Entertainment was provided by Anais Patterson and Harry Mayronne, Jr., from Tulane Summer Lyric?s Show Boat; Amy Alvarez and Butch Caire from Rivertown?s South Pacific; Stacy Taliancich, Matthew Mikal, and Wayne Daigrepont from the Actor?s Theater of New Orleans? June With Judy; and Alex Martinez Wallace and Will Connolly of the NOLA Project.
As always at le chat noir, the presentation was much aided by the technical wizardry of Su Gonczy and Jason Knobloch.
